We didn’t plan to start our company on the 5th of May, it just happened that way. Which makes it feel like fate because Cinco de Mayo is the perfect holiday for Bajío to share as a celebration. Our name is Spanish and we spend a lot of time fishing in Mexico, so that part is tight. But it’s also about the meaning and mission we share.
Contrary to what many people think, Cinco de Mayo is not Mexican Independence Day. May 5th commemorates a single well-fought battle over the French at Puebla.
The Underdog Spirit
We too are fighting on the ground battles, not with guns and grenades but with real people. We’re showing up to tournaments, answering calls, stopping in shops, and having real conversations with anglers at boat ramps, sand bars, and live bait shacks across the country. The key to our independent victory: being human.
Mexican-Inspired Gear
Rooster Fish Hat
Mexico’s West Coast is arguably one of the top spots to target Roosters. These giants cruise the beach and will bully any bait they come across. Shop these super predators and book the trip to MX.
Nato and Vega
These frames were named after Mexican fly-fishing pioneers. If you’ve fly-fished in Mexico, you owe something to these legends.
