A project to deepen the shipping channel in Mobile Bay which would increase the size of the cargo ships that can enter the port, is negatively impacting the 6th largest saltwater estuary in North America. Channel dredging dumps mud into the bay, causing murky water and covering the seagrass meadows, oyster beds and inshore habitat with inches of sediment.
