Ty grew up fishing the marshes of South Louisiana. His Instagram name says it all “Whatever Bites”. Whether it's flipping stumps in his kayak, chasing sac au lait in a beater metal boat, or running down big jacks on Lake Pontchartrain, there isn’t a fish in the Pelican State he hasn’t put his hands on.

While being a great angler and guide is impressive, it’s his off-the-water shenanigans that caught our attention. He’s divergent in wanting to protect a resource that has been abused for years and was one of the first guides to speak out about Louisiana’s redfish and trout creel limits.

He’s more than an Instagram conservation warrior, he actually shows up. He’s the one at the capital, speaking out, raising awareness, starting petitions, and gathering data all for the sake of our shallows. During his years as a wildlife biologist, he began to see the demise of arguably the greatest fishery on the planet, and since then he’s been fighting to get sport fish populations back on track. Louisiana redfish have been on the decline for years due to many factors such as land/habitat degradation and interference from other commercial fisheries, and these major issues haven't been addressed in almost 35 years.

We’re pushing for him, and you should be too. Go give him a follow and read what he puts out. He’s our eyes and ears watching over the bayou. You can listen to all the specific problems that Redfish face, on Ty's podcast below.
