We started Bajío because we love fishing. We know the power it holds, the feeling of holding a rod in a river, focusing on one thing, and leaving everything else behind. To us, fishing is our passion, our escape, our reset.
We’re not alone in feeling this way, so we teamed up with Fishe to drop a limited line of sunglasses benefiting Casting For Recovery. Together we’re hoping to share the healing powers of fly fishing, all while funding outings for those who need it most.
Fishe sent us custom art, we printed it on limited-edition shades, and when you buy a pair we’ll send $20 to fund fly fishing retreats for women in breast cancer treatment and recovery.
The Cause
The mission of Casting for Recovery (CfR) is to empower women in treatment or recovery from breast cancer through oncology-informed retreats. These retreats connect women to each other and to nature using the therapeutic sport of fly fishing—and are offered at no cost to participants.
Here are their three pillars.
Empowering Women
Our innovative retreat model, hailed as “life changing,” empowers women and cultivates confidence through learning something new in the outdoors.
Mental Health & Wellness
Retreats feature the presence of medical oncology and psychosocial professionals, providing one-on-one and group support throughout the duration of the event.
Conservation
Set amidst breathtaking natural landscapes, our retreats prioritize environmental stewardship, teaching proper fish handling, catch & release principles, and sustainability.
The Art
To bring Temples of Change to life, we partnered with Fishe, a women-founded fishing apparel and design brand that shares our love of fishing, the outdoors and the community that surrounds them.
Fishe brings an authentic female perspective to the collection, with two of their distinctive fish-inspired patterns featured on the temples of two of our best-selling women’s fishing frames:
The result brings together our performance eyewear, Fishe’s art and Casting for Recovery’s mission in a collection designed to look good on the water while doing some good beyond it.
