Blue Grass
Along the Mesoamerican reef, you’ll find patches of blue and green. Coral heads, sand spots, and turtle grass bring these colors to life. While the grass itself is green, the water clarity, sun, and refraction of the sun’s rays make it appear blue. Turtles forage through these zones, sometimes with permit compadres floating just off their backs. Sting rays flap, crabs hide, and shrimp crawl within these dense grass meadows. We captured the energy of these living ecosystems and dipped our frames in the colors we saw there.

Green Grass
Every great flats fishery has one thing in common, green grass. Seagrass, Manatee Grass, Widgeon Grass, you name it. Every legendary underwater ecosystem has GRASS. However, it's also one of the first things to go when humans start making a muck. Through the years we’ve killed vast flats with sediment, seawater, freshwater, and fertilizer. When it leaves, so do the fish, when it comes back the fish often follow. We took these deep green pantones and put them on our best-selling frames. You can meet them all below.

Brown Grass
This grass is where you get bit. Where the fish hide deep under thick mats, searching for anything that clicks, swims, or wiggles. You can fool them with a speed worm, a jig, or a craw. What you’ll struggle to do, is get them out. Fish feed in this grass, and almost always swim right back into it when they feel the barb of a 3/0. If you’re gonna flip brown grass, bring that braid from your saltwater box, you’ll probably need it.

Gray Grass
Where there are no longer huge underwater meadows, often you’ll find sparse gray grass. In our home waters of Mosquito Lagoon, cold winter weather wipes our healthy grass every year. In July the grass is so thick you’ll struggle to poll a skiff, but come February flats like whale tail can look like the surface of the moon. Gray grass means you’ve got to wait. Once the clocks go back and the air temps rise, the grass you’re looking for will be back.
